About Breath Resonance – HRV Trainer
Resonance breathing, calm and without fuss.
Most breathing apps set a standard pace — often six breaths per minute, the same for everyone. But the breathing rhythm at which heart and breath resonate most strongly, your personal resonance frequency, is different for every person, typically between 4.5 and 6.5 breaths per minute. Practice at the wrong rate and you give away part of the effect.
First we find your rate.
A guided calibration run determines your personal value. The front camera captures your pulse wave — no chest strap, no sensor, no accessories. We care especially about clean signal capture: the algorithm knows your breathing phase and filters out interference deliberately. If a measurement doesn't give a clear result, the app tells you so honestly, instead of faking a precision that isn't there.
A word in our own cause: MEC does not measure clinical heart rate variability and shows you no HRV numbers — a camera isn't enough for that, and we won't claim otherwise. What the app reliably can do: find the breathing rate at which your respiratory sinus arrhythmia shows most clearly. Your resonance point.
Then you breathe — with your eyes closed.
An audio pacer guides you at exactly your rate; a visual one too, if you prefer. While practicing you don't look at numbers, there's no live chart to monitor. Eyes closed, follow the tone. Some people fall asleep doing it — a good sign.
Feel free to switch to airplane mode: nothing interrupts, nothing leaves your device.
The method: resonance frequency training after Lehrer and Vaschillo, also known as coherent breathing or heart coherence — one of the best-researched breathing techniques and an established approach to stress management. It thrives on regularity; a few quiet minutes a day are enough.
