coolAltitude downloads
Worldwide, per day, and installs to date. The band is open; the exact number is free with an account.
How this is calculated
Apple publishes no download counts. iPhone downloads come from chart positions and daily rating growth per country, calibrated on Google Play install counts; lifetime installs from ratings worldwide × installs per rating. Confidence is the chance the real number is within half to double ours.

how many monthly users open it on a given day
How this is calculated
Monthly users come from lifetime installs across every store, fitted on monthly active user figures companies publish; daily users = monthly × the typical daily/monthly ratio for the category. Confidence is the chance the real number is within half to double ours.

About coolAltitude
coolAltitude is a professional aviation tool and calculator for IFR pilots operating in cold-weather conditions.
It assists with temperature corrections during instrument approaches and integrates weather, runway and de-/anti-icing data into a single, clear workflow.
Designed to reduce workload and improve situational awareness during flight preparation, coolAltitude focuses on accuracy, clarity and operational usability.
Some advanced features require a paid subscription.
--------------------------------
What coolAltitude does
• Calculates temperature-corrected altitudes for ILS (CAT I), RNAV/GNSS, VOR and NDB approaches
• Requires minimal data entry, using consistent color coding for immediate interpretation
• Displays corrected altitudes along the entire approach profile at relevant DME distances
• Supports flight path angle (FPA) calculations for FPA-enabled aircraft
• Provides vertical speed reference tables (corrected and uncorrected) for various ground speeds
• Includes QNH to QFE conversion tables with temperature corrections
--------------------------------
Integrated weather and runway information
• Live METAR interaction with automatic propagation of relevant values, including temperature (requires subscription)
• SNOWTAM decoding with braking action information
• RCAM (Runway Condition Assessment Matrix) based on ICAO GRF
• Support for DME shift, including threshold, touchdown zone and displaced DME references
--------------------------------
De-/Anti-icing support (requires subscription)
• FAA Holdover Time (HOT) Guidelines for multiple fluid types and manufacturers
• Integrated HOT countdown timer to track minimum and maximum recommended holdover times
• Reference tables supporting assessment of snowfall intensity
• Structured storage and sharing of airport-specific de-/anti-icing procedures
--------------------------------
Saved and shared data (requires subscription)
• Save and reload approach presets for individual airports and procedures
• Share verified, structured operational data with other users
• Local override of shared data when required
--------------------------------
Built for professional use
coolAltitude is built by pilots, for pilots.
It is designed to support decision-making during high-workload phases without replacing approved procedures.
--------------------------------
Important notice
coolAltitude is an advisory tool only.
It is not certified for operational use and does not replace approved documentation.
Use in flight operations requires approval and operation as part of the operator’s Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) in accordance with applicable regulations.
--------------------------------
coolAltitude does not replace your procedures. It helps you apply them correctly, even on the coldest days.

Latest updates
4.9
New: TAF for the selected airport
• Tap the TAF label next to the approach name to see the latest TAF, with each change group (BECMG, TEMPO, FM, PROB) on its own line.
• Included with Save & Retrieve Approach Data, together with the METAR.
• The TAF is a forecast and is shown for reference only – unlike the METAR, it is never applied to the calculation.
• The last TAF stays available offline; an expired TAF is marked.
Snowfall intensity table
• The notes below the table now follow the FAA Holdover Time Guidelines, Winter 2026–2027, word for word.
• The last row now reads ≥3 ½ SM / ≥5600 m, as in the FAA table.
4.8
Corrected snowfall intensity estimate
The snowfall intensity shown next to DAY/NIGHT in the de-/anti-icing panel (estimated from the METAR visibility) now follows the visibility ranges of the FAA table exactly.
• Earlier versions applied each table row only up to its nominal visibility – for example the 800 m row up to 800 m instead of up to 1000 m. In some ranges the app therefore showed a lighter intensity than the FAA table, e.g. Moderate instead of Heavy at 500 m by day at -1 °C and below.
• Visibilities reported in statute miles are now matched to the statute-mile column of the table. Reports such as 1/4 SM, 1/2 SM, 3/4 SM and 1 1/2 SM were affected.
• Visibility reported as M1/4SM (less than 1/4 SM) is now recognized. Earlier versions showed no estimate for it.
• The FAA table in the app (snowflake button) was correct and is unchanged, as are all holdover times.
We recommend updating before winter operations.
4.7
Updated for the FAA Holdover Time Guidelines, Winter 2026–2027.
• Holdover tables now show the FAA source document and issue date.
• Snowfall intensity table updated to the 2026–2027 FAA edition.
• New: search for a fluid by name in the fluid list.
• Improved reliability of data synchronization when coming back online.
• Fixed a rare crash on first launch.
