About DART SimVent
Turn an iPad into a realistic mechanical ventilator for simulation training. The learner sets the ventilator; the instructor changes the patient from a panel the learner never sees. From the team behind DART Sim.
WHAT THE LEARNER SEES
• A modern touchscreen ventilator. Mode badge, message bar, monitored values down the left (Ppeak, ExpMinVol, VTE, fTotal, SpO2), three live waveforms and round controls down the right, exactly as on a current transport/ICU ventilator.
• Volume and pressure modes. (S)CMV+, PCV+, SIMV+, PSIMV+ and SPONT with apnea backup. Controls for Vt, Rate, PEEP/CPAP, Oxygen, Ti or I:E, Psupport, ETS, flow trigger, pressure ramp and Plimit. Touch a control to select it, touch again to adjust, Confirm. Changes apply at the next breath, like the real device.
• Waveforms that respond to the patient. Pressure, flow and volume vs time, plus plethysmogram and CO2 waveform from the built-in SpO2 and CO2 sensors. Pressure-volume, pressure-flow and volume-flow loops. One-hour trends.
• Dynamic Lung. An animated lung that inflates with each breath, stiffens with low compliance and narrows its airways with high resistance, with PetCO2, SpO2 and pulse alongside.
• Alarms that behave like the device. High and medium priority tones, Pressure high, Pressure limitation, low and high minute volume, tidal volume, rate, Apnea and Disconnection, SpO2 and PetCO2 limits. Alarm limits window, two-minute audio pause, alarm buffer.
• Soft keys from the real ventilator. O2 enrichment, manual breath and inspiratory hold, screen lock, suctioning tool. Monitoring window with Pplat, Pmean, Cstat, Rinsp, RCexp and leak. Events log of every setting change and alarm.
WHAT THE INSTRUCTOR CONTROLS
• Hidden patient panel. Compliance, resistance, spontaneous rate and effort, circuit leak, disconnection, SpO2, pulse and PetCO2. Every change shows up on the traces and the alarms within a breath.
• Nine one-tap scenarios. Normal adult, ARDS, COPD and bronchospasm, obstructed tube, circuit leak, disconnection, weaning, agitated patient with asynchrony, apnea.
• Scenario editor. Build your own cases as a spreadsheet: one row per step with a duration and the patient values that apply. Pin a saved scenario as a chip, run it, and step through it with Prev, Stop and Next keys that sit on the ventilator's top bar.
MADE FOR THE CLASSROOM
• Stands alone. No account, no subscription, no internet connection. Built-in SpO2 and CO2 sensors, so the whole picture is on one iPad.
• In your language. English and Spanish, with the terms used on Spanish-market equipment.
• Built for the iPad in landscape, on the 10.2-inch iPad and up.
DART SimVent is a training tool. It is not a medical device and must never be connected to a patient.
