About E-numbers 101
E-numbers 101 tells you what's really in your food. Scan an ingredient list or a barcode and see every additive at a glance: what it does, where it usually comes from, whether it suits your diet, and how often you eat it.
SCAN WHAT YOU EAT
• Point the camera at an ingredient list and E-numbers 101 picks out every additive, by code (E330, E 471, INS 211) or by name, in English and several European languages
• Scan a barcode, type its number or search by product name to look a product up in Open Food Facts, with its Nutri-Score and NOVA group
• Read ingredients or a barcode from a photo, or type and paste a list
• Product missing? Scan its ingredients or add it by hand, and get help adding it to Open Food Facts
KNOW EVERY E-NUMBER
• Over 650 additives, from E100 colours to E1000+ modified starches
• What each one does, where it usually comes from (plant, animal, insect, mineral, fermentation or synthetic) and whether it's vegetarian or vegan
• EFSA safety evaluations and acceptable daily intakes
• Search by E-number or name, or browse by group
YOUR AVOID LIST
• Mark additives to avoid, or add a ready-made set such as the "Southampton Six" colours
• Choose vegetarian or vegan to flag additives from animals or insects
• Turn on sensitivities such as sulphites, soy, milk, gluten, phenylalanine (PKU), azo dyes, benzoates or polyols
• Flagged additives are marked everywhere they appear
LOG AND LEARN
• Add what you eat to breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, and see every additive you had today
• Products you scan or add are saved, so you can log them again in one tap
• Compare up to three products side by side
• Each additive's page shows how often you've eaten it and in which products
