Laply

Laply is an offline lap tracker for coaches that times a whole squad from one phone, with no account and no server, and saves every race to a searchable history.

Built for the person holding the stopwatch: the coach, the PE teacher, the club volunteer running the session. Set the target laps, check in who is present, then tap each runner as they cross the line. Splits, totals, fastest laps and rankings build as the race runs, so the result is ready before everyone has caught their breath.

BEFORE THE START

• Save your runners once, with squad numbers, and reuse that roster every session instead of typing names at the line.
• Check in who turned up. Absent runners stay out of the clock.
• Save a setup as a template — target laps and the squad you use — and load it before next week's session.

DURING THE RACE

• One row per runner, one tap per lap. Laply counts for the whole group at once, so there are no tally marks and no mental arithmetic.
• Every row carries a live current-lap time and shows whether this lap is faster or slower than that runner's last one.
• Colour-coded states tell you who is on pace, who is on their last lap and who has been lapped, readable at a glance from across the track.
• Tapped the wrong name? Undo the lap without stopping the race.
• Add a late arrival mid-race and their clock starts from the moment they join.
• If the app closes or the battery dies, reopen Laply and the race comes back with the laps already tapped.

AFTER THE FINISH

• Finishing order, per-runner totals and lap splits, ranked by total time or by fastest single lap.
• New personal bests are flagged the moment the race ends.
• Every finished race saves itself to history, with notes and tags you can search months later.
• Runner Stats turns saved races into a per-runner timeline of totals and fastest laps across the season.
• Send the summary straight to a group chat, or export your whole history to a spreadsheet as CSV.

HOW IT TIMES

Laply records your taps against the device clock. It is built for coach-run group timing and training sessions: club nights, PE lessons, repeat efforts on a field or a park circuit. It is not certified race timing and not chip timing, and it does not replace either.

PRIVACY

Laply needs no account and no signal. Runner names, times, notes, tags and templates stay on the phone unless you share or export them yourself. Nothing is sent to a server.

Run the race. Own the pace.
