About Sentinel-2 Clear Days
Sentinel-2 Clear Days finds the cloud-free days over a place you care about, builds a timeline you can scrub, and exports a short film. Go back to 1984 with Landsat, zoom in with US aerial imagery, and see your area in 3D.
Draw or drop an area on the map, search for a place, or use a preset such as Starbase, Colossus or Cape Canaveral. Scan public Sentinel-2 L2A imagery for clear dates, review cloud, shadow and granule stats, build a timeline, play it at 1–12 frames per second, and export a film that matches that preview speed. Optional inlay box or circle and MGRS or lat/long burn-in on composed frames.
Features
• Area and inlay tools (box or circle) on Apple Maps
• Place search and km-sized drop presets
• Clear-day scan across the Sentinel-2 era, the last year or the last 45 days
• 1984 to present: long timelines use Landsat 5, 7, 8 and 9 for the early years
• NAIP aerial imagery (0.6–1 m) for areas in the lower 48 US states
• 3D terrain on Copernicus 30 m elevation, with a north arrow, height exaggeration, and share or save as an image
• Saved 3D views that reopen without a connection
• Timeline scrub, play speed, and film export
• Optimized for iPhone Duo
• On-device stacks: no account, no sign-in, no backend
Data: Sentinel-2 L2A imagery comes from the public Element84 Earth Search STAC API and Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFFs on AWS. Landsat (USGS) and NAIP (USDA) imagery come from Microsoft Planetary Computer. Elevation comes from the Copernicus DEM (30 m). Place search may use OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and the basemap uses Apple MapKit.

What's new in 1.4.0
• Landsat back to 1984: choose "1984 to present" to build a timeline that uses Landsat 5, 7, 8 and 9 for the early years, then Sentinel-2.
• NAIP aerial zoom: for areas in the lower 48 US states, open sharp USDA NAIP aerial imagery (0.6–1 m).
• 3D terrain: see your area draped over Copernicus 30 m elevation. Turn and tilt it and change the height exaggeration. A north arrow shows which way you face; tap it to turn north up.
• Share or save a 3D view as an image, with the north arrow and data credits.
• Saved 3D views: keep a 3D view on your iPhone and reopen it later, even without a connection. Rename or delete views in Saved views.
• Steadier film export on long timelines: exports and 3D views size themselves to the memory available.
• Quick date ranges: 45 days, 1 year, 2017 to present, and 1984 to present.
• Optimized for iPhone Duo.
• Fixes: after you close NAIP or 3D, the map keeps its zoom, the page keeps its place, and the navigation bar no longer blinks or goes missing.
• About screen with data credits, and a privacy policy link in the app.
1.1.0
Name the area you are filming. That name sits beside the date on the preview and in the exported film, and the timeline stays to the right of the name.
Turn the inlay on or off. When it is on, a red outline marks it on the map, the preview, and the film. Move it to any corner. Leader lines connect the source box to the enlarged inset. A longer side of 8 km holds two inlays, and 12 km holds three. One corner stays clear.
Center a timelapse on where you are. Location is used only while the app is open, one fix at a time. It is not tracked, and the app does not ask for Always.
From and To sit with the date presets: 2017 → now, Last year, and Last 45 days. Name the film you export. The default file is still s2-timeline. Rebuilding a shorter date range, including a single day, no longer crashes. Choosing a place (Starbase, Colossus, or Cape Canaveral) starts a fresh box and clears the previous inlay and area name. Selecting the inlay no longer freezes the page.
