What users say about UnObey: OCD
From recent reviews.
About UnObey: OCD
OCD can make every thought feel like a question, every doubt demand an answer and every uncomfortable feeling require action.
But a thought is not an instruction. And doubt does not have to make the decisions.
UnObey is an interactive app that helps teenagers and their parents make sense of obsessive compulsive disorder. It was created by Marcus Lewton, PhD, D.ClinPsych, an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist specialising in child and adolescent mental health.
UnObey does not promise to make unwanted thoughts disappear. Instead, it helps young people recognise patterns, understand what may be happening in their minds and discover that they have choices about how to respond.
MADE FOR TEENAGERS
OCD isn't always about cleanliness or checking.
It can involve frightening or unwanted thoughts, images and doubts about things that matter deeply to you. Sometimes the thoughts themselves are distressing. At other times, it is the feeling they leave behind, or the pressure to do something to make things feel right again.
UnObey helps you explore:
• Why intrusive thoughts can feel so upsetting.
• How OCD turns uncertainty into relentless doubt.
• Why checking, reassurance and rituals bring temporary relief but keep the cycle going.
• How emotions, responsibility and fear can become tangled up with compulsions.
• What it means to make room for a thought without obeying its demands.
You don't have to explain every thought, prove what it means or find the perfect answer.
SUPPORT WHEN THINGS FEEL DIFFICULT
When OCD becomes loud, it can be difficult to know what to do next.
UnObey offers practical, interactive tools to help you pause, recognise what is happening and consider your next step. Explore your feelings, understand compulsive urges and experiment with responding differently.
There are no scores to achieve, no streaks to maintain and no pressure to get everything right.
EXPLORE HOW THE MIND WORKS
Through accessible explanations, original illustrations and interactive activities, discover how intrusive thoughts become caught in repetitive cycles, why attempts to control them can make them more persistent, and how a different relationship with doubt can begin to develop.
The aim isn't to win a battle against your thoughts. It's to discover that you can continue living while uncertainty is still present.
A SPACE FOR PARENTS, TOO
Supporting a teenager with OCD can be confusing, exhausting and sometimes frightening. Parents may find themselves offering reassurance or adapting family routines, only to discover that the relief rarely lasts.
UnObey's dedicated Parent Mode helps families understand:
• What OCD can look like during adolescence.
• Why reassurance doesn't always help.
• How compulsions can become part of family life.
• How to respond with understanding without unintentionally strengthening OCD.
• How to support gradual change while respecting a teenager's growing independence.
