Fern: Plant Journal & Care

If you collect staghorn ferns, you already know the frustration: every plant care app and garden journal on the market was designed for potted houseplants.

They remind you to "water every 7 days" — but your Platycerium is mounted on a board and needs soaking, not watering. They track soil moisture — but your fern doesn't have soil. They offer generic tropical care tips — but nothing about shield frond growth, pup separation timing, or the difference between caring for a Bifurcatum versus an Elephantotis.

StaghornPal is the first app built specifically for staghorn fern collectors.

YOUR FERN GARDEN LOG

Every plant in your collection gets a detailed profile: species (from a database of 18 Platycerium varieties), acquisition date, mounting method, health status, and growth stage — from spore to mature specimen. Tag each plant with custom labels and track its history through a visual timeline of photos and care notes.

This isn't a generic plant tracker with "staghorn fern" as a dropdown option. It's purpose-built for how collectors actually manage their collections.

GROWTH TIMELINE

Watch your ferns evolve. Every photo you add builds a chronological visual story — from a tiny pup to a stunning mounted display. Full-screen immersive mode lets you swipe through months or years of growth in high resolution. Add care notes to any entry: what you changed, what worked, what didn't.

For collectors, this visual proof of growth is both motivating and invaluable when trading or selling specimens.

PLANT LINEAGE TRACKING

Staghorn fern collectors care deeply about genetics. StaghornPal lets you link parent plants to their pups, building a family tree for your collection. Track which mother plant produced which offspring, when pups were separated, and how each generation develops.

This is a feature no general plant app offers — because no general plant app understands collector culture.

SHARE YOUR COLLECTION

Generate beautiful long-image summaries of your plants for sharing on Instagram, Facebook groups, or collector forums. Share individual growth records with fellow enthusiasts. Use proximity sharing to exchange plant profiles when meeting other collectors in person.

NATIVE iOS EXPERIENCE

Built as a true native iOS app — not a web wrapper. 120Hz smooth scrolling, haptic feedback on interactions, Dark Mode throughout, and full support for Dynamic Type accessibility. The interface is designed to feel like it belongs on your iPhone.

PRIVACY

All your plant data, photos, and care records stay on your device. No cloud account required. No data collection. Your collection is your business.

WHO STAGHORNPAL IS FOR

Dedicated fern collectors who maintain 10, 50, or 200+ plants and need a real management system. Hobbyists who propagate from spores and want to document every stage. Sellers and traders who need organized records with photos and lineage. Plant parents who tried Planta or Greg and found the generic advice useless for mounted epiphytes. Anyone
