About Progressive Gin Rummy Cards
Progressive Gin is a calm, beautifully crafted take on Progressive Rummy, the rising-contract card game families have played around the kitchen table for generations. You might know it as May I?, Shanghai, Liverpool, Kalooki, or contract rummy. Free to play, the whole game. No ads, no coins, no tracking, no internet required. Just a quiet card room and a good game.
HOW IT PLAYS
Across seven rounds the goal grows: two groups of three, then a group and a run, all the way to three runs of four. Each round you draw, build your melds, lay them down, and race to shed every card. Lowest score after seven rounds wins. Jokers are wild, and you can play more than one in a meld, as long as one real card goes with them.
BUY THE PILE
When another player is about to draw, jump in and buy the top discard. It comes with two hidden cards off the deck: a gamble that can complete your hand or fill it with deadwood. You always get your full buy time, even when someone else wants the same card. Tap Buy and ask. Sometimes they'll let you have it.
CARDS THAT MOVE LIKE CARDS
Rose deals you in one card at a time, round the table. The pile you buy slides into your hand and turns face up where you can see it. The melds you lay down settle with a soft gold glow, and when a round ends everyone turns their cards over before the scores come up. Full Reduce Motion support, and you set the pace.
YOUR HOUSE, YOUR RULES
Every family plays a little differently, so you can too. Pick a table to start, The Aunties' House, High Roller, Easy Chair, or Sharp Table, then tune it to taste: how much jokers and aces sting when you're caught with them, and how many times you can buy the pile each round. Your table, your rules. The title screen always shows which one you're playing.
A TABLE WITH CHARACTER
Rose deals you in, and the card-room regulars, Frank, June, Artie, Pearl, Walt, and Hazel, sit across from you in person: six hand-drawn characters who blink, think over their cards, and look quietly proud when they go down. Tell Rose your name and the whole table greets you by it. They play a smart, honest game. No "rigged" computer, no pay-to-win.
MAKE IT YOURS
- Nine table felts, free: from the lamplit Card Room to a warm Sunset porch, plus Amethyst, Slate, Evergreen, and more
- Five card backs, free: lattice, grid, dots, pinstripe, or a clean plain
- Optional touches: a woven felt texture, and a "match the time of day" light that warms at dusk and cools at dawn
THE PARLOR (OPTIONAL)
Want more? Full Parlor is one purchase that unlocks every extra felt and card back, now and in the future, and lets you rename the regulars at your table. Pay once, keep it forever, and share it with your family. Smaller packs are there too, like the Holiday Frost felt with its falling snow, and a tip jar if you'd like to buy Rose a coffee. Played before it was free? Full Parlor is already yours.

Rose here. Two big things this time.
My table is free to sit at now. Every round, every regular, every house rule. If you paid for your seat before today, thank you. Full Parlor is yours: every new felt and card back, now and later, and you can rename the regulars. Frank says he doesn't mind.
For everyone else there's a little shop called The Parlor. No ads, ever. No coins. The game itself never gets locked.
And your hand fits on the screen now, even after two buys. Hold a card and drag it where you like it. Settings got tidier too.
Two house rules from my own table: you can play more than one Joker in a meld now, as long as there's one real card with them. And you always get your full buy time now, even when someone else wants the same card. Tap Buy and ask. Sometimes they'll say yes.
Pull up a chair, dear.

Rose here. The cards finally move the way they do at my table.
I deal them round one at a time now, and when you buy the pile it lands in your hand face up where you can see it. Lay your melds down and watch them settle, gold for a second, like I gave them a pat. When a round ends, everyone turns their cards over before the scores come up, the way it should be.
The regulars have come alive too. They look over their cards while they think, and they look quietly proud when they go down. I might nod when you do.
All of it respects Reduce Motion, and you can set the pace: relaxed, normal, or snappy.
Pull up a chair, dear.
